Webinar: “New Data on Clinician Learning: What does it mean for your CME programs?”
Research exploring clinician learning is of little value if it is not shared and leveraged broadly by those within the CME community to drive innovation and improve educational planning. This session is moderated by Jeremy C. Lundberg, MSSW, CEO of EthosCE Learning Management System and will introduce three new and emerging data sets that have been collected by Brian S. McGowan, PhD. Dr. McGowan will structure each data set to highlight the problem, the methods of exploration, and the data or conclusion that could be drawn. These new ideas will then be put into the context of the educational planning process with the goal of allowing those within the CME community to effectively leverage these data and lessons to immediately impact their planning processes.

- Compare and contrast new data illustrating emerging trends in clinician preferences for different CME formats

For twenty years, he has been creating innovative web solutions for major medical associations, health systems, and Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies – such as the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Psychiatric Association, United Healthcare, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Brian McGowan, Ph.D.

Brian McGowan, Ph.D. is the Co-Founder and Chief Learning Officer, ArcheMedX, Inc, a healthcare informatics and e-learning company (www.archemedx.com).Dr. McGowan earned his Doctorate in Cardiovascular Physiology at Temple University School of Medicine. While at Temple, he served as a member of the Heart Failure and Transplant Teams at Temple University Hospital and participated in nearly 500 human heart transplant and LVAD-placement operations. Dr. McGowan completed Post-doctoral Fellowships in Cardiothoracic Surgery Research at the Medical University of South Carolina and in Translational Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. And for nearly a decade, Dr. McGowan served as Director for a graduate course in Medical Physiology at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA.
Dr. McGowan has served in various positions of leadership at Sudler & Hennessey; Cephalon; Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and most recently Pfizer, Inc. Dr. McGowan is a member of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions; served as Founding Chair of the Alliance’s Emerging Technologies in Education Committee.
For the past decade Dr. McGowan has conducted research and lectured both nationally and internationally on the need to drive innovation in healthcare and healthcare education. And he recently authored his first book, “#SocialQI: Simple Solutions to Improve Your Healthcare” available through Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and iBooks.
